Water is Key!

Hydration in an important element to your hair care routine. In fact, applying product without hydrating first is almost...pointless (if your hair product doesn't already contain water that is) but even then, applying water first is always key and i'll tell you why...
If you want healthy, moisturised, hydrated hair, you need to add water often. There may be some mixed opinions on whether too much water is good or not in your hair, however, for anything to grow healthily, it needs to be watered in moderation.
Take for example a plant. In order for it to grow and blossom healthily you need to water it once in a while or often to avoid the roots getting dry otherwise the plant can dehydrate, become brittle or crispy and die due lack of hydration. Well, the same applies to our hair. Hydration is key to help product absorb and penetrate our hair as well as making it less dry and more manageable, especially in afro textures as afro hair tends to get dry much quicker. Also depending on your hair porosity, your hair may be more susceptible to dryness.
Water is also very key when applying products to your hair to help them absorb well into your strands. Creaming your hair with products such as hair butters without water for instance isn't very effective and can become too heavy and sit on top of your hair leading to it being more likely to dry your hair than help it. It is also important to remember that hydration and moisture are different, but the two come hand in hand.
A few ways to incorporate water into your hair routine regularly is by spraying your hair with water or by washing or wetting your hair at least once or twice a week to help keep your hair and scalp hydrated which can help your products absorb better therefore leaving your hair more moisturised, thriving and healthy.
Try incorporating this into your weekly hair routine :)
